I was in Guangzhou and Hong Kong during SARS and it didn't bother me one bit. I was also in Taiwan during an earthquake (only 4.9), so not too bad. However, the earthquake in Sichuan has caused me a few tremors too - I'm due to go to Beijing in 10 days and won't be anywhere near the earthquake zone. Funny how things change - logic tells me there's no chance of an earthquake there, and that I would be at just as much risk in San Francisco - but can't help having a few reservations about going. Is this silly?

well, no, there can be aftershocks. The Sichuan one was felt in Hong Kong, as it was quite strong. I must say, though, I'd have been more worried about Sars, because you don't know when that's hitting you.
