I understand that there is an estuary there. What is it like to swim there? I am not a strong swimmer and I want to avoid big waves.

Surf is good but not too rough and I haven't experienced any hollow waves where you get caught inside and tumbled. There are caymans on the peninsula 'cos I've seen them but I haven't heard of alligators. There are crocs further down on the mainland but they're freshwater I think. I swam in the Pacific and never saw any alligators or crocs but if you're swimming near an estuary I'd be more wary of sharks as that's where they like to feed.
