going to Goa in November - what's the best currency to take - rupees or stirling cheques/cash to change?

If you want stirling cheques you will have to get them from a Scottish bank.
Very funny Tiberius, but not very helpful. Chrisnsue, I would recommend taking a reasonable amount of local currency (ie Rupees), so long as you take proper security precautions - preferably a money belt next to your skin. Travellers cheques can be awkward and expensive to change. Have a nice holiday.
If you can, get hold of US dollars, hotels etc will still liked to be paid in hard currency. (If you have time, try and get to Arambol)
