Hooking up half way between UK and SA

I have a mate in the UK and I'm from South Africa. Which country would be halfway between the two of us? Or else which country would be better for us to holiday in....UK or South Africa?

However, I spent time in Nigeria some years ago, and, unless it's changed dramatically, I'd prefer Nosha's recommendation!
For the less adventurous there are some slightly more traditional holiday destinations though they are a bit nearer to the UK than SA. Egypt (2,100 miles London to Cairo) Cape Verde Islands and the Gambia (both about 2,700 miles) may be a bit better.

depends what sort of holiday you want. Theatregoing? London. Wild animals? SA (or Whipsnade). Beaches? SA every time. Shopping? London.
For midway, do as New Judge suggests. Egypt has history. Gambia has... not so very much, but beaches and beach hotels anyway. Tunisia and Morocco have interesting Muslim/north African culture.

Bear in mind that a halfway point might not be very easily accessible to both of you, meaning that you might end up changing planes more times than you can be bothered with. If it were me, I would suggest that you either come to the UK or your friend visit South Africa - it will no doubt be much cheaper and a great deal more convenient.
Also, since when was Spain halfway between the UK and South Africa?
