Coffee Shops in Northampton
I have half an hour or more to wait near Northampton station on Friday to connect with my husband who is driving up. As I don't know the town at all, are there any nice coffee shops close to the station which I could wait in?

There is a coffee shop at the station...........there are pub/cafe type thingys along Marefair (the road into town straight from the station) and several in Gold Street.
PS. Get your husband to check for roadworks in that area before he tries to negotiate a convoluted one-way badly signed diversion ! :o)

As said, the area outside the station is a undergoing major roadworks for a new bus/train interchange, so make sure you have your mobiles on in case you need to phone each other.! Regarding monkeyeyes suggestion of going towards Marefair, there are a few places there but there are major roadworks here as well (at the Gold St crossroads). Anywhere else is a good 15 minute walk. The only other place is the Super Sausage transport cafe. There would be ample room for your hubby to pick you up and they were voted the best transport cafe in the country last year, but I would hardly describe it as "a nice coffee shop"! They do a brilliant toasted bacon sandwich though!! If you fancy it, they are at the junction of St Andrews Road and Spencer Bridge Rd. When you come out of the station building turn left and follow the path for 50 yds into the big car park. You need to walk to the far diagonal corner where you will come out onto St Andrews Rd. Turn left and the cafe is 100yds on your left...about a 5 minute walk. Which way is hubby coming from as this could help with other suggestions?
If he is coming up the A43, that should be fairly easy. Come under the M1 at J15A (r'about either side of the M1). Follow the dual c'way over 3 r'abouts. Go past the BP on the left and you will see KFC and cinema and football stadium on right. Turn right at the next (traffic lighted) r'about. Follow this road (Weedon Rd) into N'pton over 2 r'abouts and past a couple of sets of lights. After passing the big bingo hall and Northampton Saints rugby club on your right, turn left at the next set of lights onto Spencer Bridge Road. Over 2 sets of lights and get into right hand lane as you go over the railway bridge. Turn right at the lights and the cafe is on your right.
