I'd advise them as a matter of routine, not just travelling. It would be a good idea to be on the safe side.
Hep A, Hep B definitely advisable as are a couple of others (eg typhoid and tetanus booster). Also depending on when/where you're going you may have to think about anti-malarials too although it's not a problem in most 'tourist' areas. Rabies can be a problem in Tibet and some bits of Mongolia but the best advice there is just keep away from stray/wild dogs! Definitely should check with your doctor though for the latest advice.
