It all depends on what area you are going to, I am going next year but will be based in Natures Valley near Plettenberg on the indian Ocean, I have been to this area before and find it very scenic . Also at the time of year that I am going (August) the right whales should be visable in the Bay

thanks for the answer... at the moment we are spending a couple of days in Pretoria/Johannesburg... and then heading to either Cape Town or Durban... they say North coast is really good for scuba diving...
If you go to Capetown, then the cable car up Table Mountain is a must. The wine route is a good way to pass the day as well :)

Thanks, i'll definately note that down :)
The Kruger NP is excellent, particularly in our summer when there are no leaves on the trees in SA so you can see the wildlife. I've done the whale watching off the coast north of Durban and it was spectacular. The Drakensburg mountains are scenic, we stayed at Giants Castle. The Battlefields are worth seeing (remember the film Zulu?). Knysna Elephant Park east of George is worth a visit too. Far too much to mention. Maybe you could be more specific?
North coast of South Africa? - there's a novelty - thought that was called 'the Med'.
This country is huge. Every tourist book you read says 'don't try and cover the country in one trip'. Otherwise it is like Americans doing Europe - 'its Wednesday afternoon so we must be in Paris, honey'.
Do either Cape Town and immediate area, or Durban area inc Drakensberg.
