sight seeing around Avignon
2 Answers
We are about to set out on a 2 week trip to a Gite near Avignon. I don't know the area, though my husband does. Are there any hidden treasures I could take him to? Staying near Carpentras with a hire car

Plus, the town of Uzes is pleasand and worth a wander.
Utterly unmissable is the world heritage site at the Pont du Gard http://www.pontdugard.fr/index.php?langue=GB
near Remoulins
I also found Nimes a fantastic town centre, but it's a bit lary in parts - bit of a drugs problem but you'll be able to keep away from that I'm sure. the Roman arensa etc are stunning, but not for the faint-hearted as there are numerous unguarded dead drops. Such a different take on health and safety in foreign parts.
