Anyone have any opinions, good or bad, on travelling with American Airlines. We have the option to travel for the first time, so your views would be welcome.
I flew American Airlines about 4 years ago from Manchester to Chicago. They were very good, very efficient and there was certainly nothing to dislike about them at all.
I can add my appreciation for AA to Spudqueens but my experiences of AA were fifteen separate flights London - LA and back 25 odd years ago.Never had a problem ,a fine airline.
BTW You know why AA doesnt paint its aircraft just a clear lacquer on the aluminium fuselage That way they increase the number of paying passengers who offset the weight of paint usually applied .Interesting No.....
My son and his entire ice hockey team used AA to get to New York a couple of years ago and found them more than helpful. I booked the tickets for him online, picked his seat allocations for both outward and return journeys and apart from the need to pay for some excess baggage (he's a goalie so his kit weighs a ton!) he had no complaints at all.
I've used them 4-5 times over as many years and like the leg room they provide for the price (in cattle class).
A hidden advantage is that most of punters are Americans - so depending where you are going and at what time, you generally join a very short queue of folks going through customs as non-US citizens. Which can save quite a bit of time.
Travelled with them once in last few years and they were fine but their food is mainly junk box stuff so nothing healthy at all.
In addition they charge $5 for alcoholic drinks.
I think that many will agree as well that their FA's are at least in their 50s and can be grumpy.
They are an average airline in my opinion.
They are usually prompt at pushing back. Their stewardesses are around 60 and pretty grumpy. Food is basic, you have to pay for booze, and the TV is very bland 'safe' progamming so expect reruns of I Love Lucy.
