Do you have a fierce in-built protection of all things akin to you and where your roots lie, I have, if people call us Geordies 'fick', I don't like it, but have to laugh along with it, it's too big to fight !
it's like when the Irish are the butt of a lot of jokes, do they feel like coming out fighting?
or when the Yorkshire people are said to be "careful" with money
Do you treasure your roots and where it all started, profound I know, but I would like to know coz I'm nosy Geordie bugger !

As I ubderstand it, we (ie Sussex) let the Normans trample over us, and left the nasty fighting to the rough types up in the northern lands.

We have a proud heritage of being rubbish at most sports.

I take an instant dislike toward anyone who has a pop at the People's Republic of Teesside (That's Middlesbrough, to the unenlightened) - Mock The Week have had a few over the years. Wouldn't be so bad but I don't even live in Boro. I'm not really looking forward to Top Gear's take on the area, whenever it's going to be shown.
