A prebooked car is the best and probably quickest way

The cheapest and slowest would be coach via London

In between would be train with a choice of several routes at different prices.

I`d get the train to London and the Gatwick Express train (from London Victoria)
You can get a train from Dover Priory Station into Victoria and as 237SJ says Gatwick Express out to Gatwick.

It may be faster by car but it involves the M25 so I wouldn't count on it.

Going via Victoria and the Gatwick Express is actually a seriously bad idea - it takes longer and costs more than the alternatives

fare via Tonbridge and Redhill - £25.10 anytime. 2hr 12 min typically

fare via London Bridge £39.10 off peak £39.60 peak 2.5 hours

fare via Victoria - as London Bridge, 2.75 to 3 hours.

If there's more than one of you a car becomes seriously attractive.
A car would be the easiest option. Not necessarily the cheapest.
www.dovertaxis.com Should be upwards of £100.

Just an update - checked out private hire costs - £140+++ !!! one way. It's for a family relative coming over from Canada. She flies into LGW and then on a cruise from Dover.
Thanks again
