i cheated the railway company the other day. I bought a return ticket and didn't go back.

You didn't cheat them - you cheated yourself out of the difference in fare.

Reminds me of my grandfather. He used to ask for a return to Holborn, when he was buying it at Holborn. Quite logical dont you think?

Great I would have loved to see the face of the ticketseller,they are usually a bunch of grumpies.
A true story - a couple of years ago my husbands friend who lives in London wanted to come up to the North West for a few days to visit us. The return tickets from London to our nearest station were very expensive and we ended up booking him return tickets from London to a station about 30 or 40 miles further north than us as it was much cheaper. He just hopped off at our station and we dropped him back off there a few days later!
