i wish to experience the effects of the british empire

can anyone suggest any countries where there is still an over hang from the colonial days, or since most countries gained independance have they removed most traces of the empire?

India in their bureaucracy, Sri Lanka in their old buildings
christchurch in n.zealand feels very old world english.
singapore has its own very english lawn bowls club, everyone dresses in white, and its a very serious game.
doesn´t egypt still have some old colonial buildings in cairo
lastly, i vaguely remember visisting Fiji some years ago, in i think Lesaka(the old capital) and that also felt like a old colonial place

Hong Kong still has road names in English aswell as Chinese, and they still have British style post boxes - just painted green instead of red.
