Getting bumped up to first class on a flight

My fiancee can't afford first class :( we are but proles. does anyone have any past experience/knowledge to answer: if, on our honeymoon, we head to the check-in desk nice n' presentable telling them that we got married the day before and asked what was the chance of getting bumped up to first class as a treat, how likely is a positive response? I am being greedy i know- we want to enjoy the high life though we cant afford it :)

It's always worth a try.

Turn up looking SFU ("Suitable For Upgrade") and hope there are some free seats.

It would p1ss me off if I had paid full first class fare and sat opposite to a couple who had been upgraded because they had just been married.

Economy to Business Class maybe, and even that would p1ss me off but Economy to First Class........no chance.

I wish you luck and if there are spare seats in amongst the elite you might just be lucky. Enjoy yourselves and always remember your money is just as valued as everyone else's !

I answered that in a thread before, where you said that I was needed on health and fitness. Salla...please do not make me comment and yes there is a very good reason.
People have talked a load of "boll0cks" on that thread without looking at the past history, which gives the diagnosis.
If I said what I thought.....the "biddies" would have a field day.

We tried it once on a plane.... going to get married out in Jamaica. If it had been just the two of us, it would have worked. But we had two children with us, so it didn't. It's always worth a try BB - take no notice of the hoity toity !!!

JJ....I suppose you mean Free medical health care with their job and you have to pay for it?............Entirely different.

Who should be upgraded? Who decides? Anyone could say that they were honeymoon couples, dad had just died and they were going to see him, certain people who want special treatment but won't spend the money (professional spongers)....no, I am sorry I stick to what i have said.

Monarch ask you to pay for extra legroom and if there are extra legroom seats available then you can sit in them..........if you pay the extra.........otherwise they are left empty and quite rightly so.

Bear in mind that any old chav with a few quid can buy a seat in First Class.

If passengers are upgraded, at least the check-in staff have decided that they are ...

JJ....nothing to do with your social status.......one has paid the going rate for a first class ticket........chav or no chav.

First Class doesn't mean it is only for "first class people" whatever that may mean, it means that they have paid for first class amenities.

It describes the flight amenities and not the social status of the passenger.
