Hi All
We are due to go away soon and are flying for the first time with Ryan Air. We have 25KG weight limited per person, 15KG in the hold and 10KG hand luggage, which seems plenty but because you can not take any liquid's in hand luggage it has to all go in the hold, i.e toiletries.
I've been told today though by a friend that you can actually take 15.9KG and 10.9KG because they will only charge once you go over 1KG and as your still in your 15KG bracket you can not be charged.
I've never heard this before and don't want to go to the airport over weight and have a charge for it.
Can anyone confirm if this is true or not please?
Thanks to all in advance
Kind Regards

Oh Chris, I have to disagree. The difference between flying BA and Ryanair is enormous. At least with BA (or Alitalia come to that) there is some semblance of civilised behaviour. It's an entirely different experience. Ryanair is the pits!!
naomi - I do agree with you, but I can put up with the pits if it's only a 2 hour flight. I certainly wouldn't like to fly long haul with someone like Ryan Air!
I could put up with the pits as long as the pits part of it didn`t relate to safety. A friend of mine travelled with Ryanair and they compromised safety on 3 counts. And anyone who could even think about taking seats out of aircraft and replace them with ledges for passengers to stand up against is either mad, having a laugh or has absolutely no regard for the wellfare of his passengers (probably all 3 and he`ll never get away with such an outrageous idea anyway)
237SJ, yes, he's having a laugh and getting his name in the papers. I enjoyed seeing him having to print public apologies to Stelios recently, as I always enjoy flying EasyJet. That said, I was supposed to fly Ryanair this year but volcanic ash aborted it; they refunded my fare without any fuss.
I have flown with Ryanair many times now, and they are BRILLIANT as far as I am concerned. I admit that I am able to make good use of the cheapest fares due to being out of work, but the service has always been first-class. As for weights and sizes etc, just stick to the advised limits, why risk it if it will cost you dear.
Hand luggage is often looked at as you pass staff, and they may ask you to try it in the frame for size, but as I say just stick to the rules so you have no worries.
All (or a lot of it) of the bad publicity you hear about Ryanair is either jealousy of their outstanding success, or because someone has a problem that they themselves MAY have created, such as not reading all info on the website and breaching rules.
Obviously Ryanair will be at fault at times, but they are a big buisness now, and like everyone else they cannot be perfect. As far as I can tell, the well-known boss of Ryanair genuinely does do things to keep the prices as good as they can to benefit us.
DO NOT LISTEN TO ALL THE STUPID HEADLINES, JUDGE FOR YOURSELF ON WHAT YOU SEE AND FIND OUT IN PERSON.

LONG LIVE RYANAIR, FROM A LOYAL FAN.

I must confess that my Ryan Air experience was an enjoyable one.
We booked priority seating and to my amazement managed to get the front row seats opposite the cabin crew both outward and inward bound. We were not front of the queue but the ones in front of us ignored the extra leg room seats for some reason.
The cabin crew were fantastic to be fair and noticed I was a nervous flier, reassuring me of the safety.
I would definitely fly Ryan Air again.
My 2 only grumbles are, 1. The way they split you luggae allowance up (25kg in total but a 15Kg for the hold and 10kg for the over head storage) what difference does it make where your allowance goes????
2. coming back the priority queue's were a little chaotic, with non-priority seating customers failing to wait to board after priorty ticket holders. But that's the failing of Ryan Air not the customers.
