That's about tit really afaik - the weather can vary ENORMOUSLY all over the southern states around this time of year.
One week it can be sub-zero, the next - up in the 70s/80s in my experience.
Except for Phoenix and Tucson areas... Generally expect near 70 degrees at Christmas in Phoenix... only a little cooler in Tucson due to the higher altitudes. It will get chilly at night though... down in the 50's ... maybe 40's (all Fahrenheit of course)... Here's stats on Tucson http://www.wrh.noaa.g...mate/holiday/xmas.php

Just east of Phoenix is a smaller city that's even warmer..Yuma Arizona... right on the California border...
Clanad, would Feb be a good time to visit Las Vegas/Grand canyon?
There's never a good time to visit Las Vegas.

The entire USA lies in the northern hemisphere and nowhere within that country will be hot at the end of December. Anywhere within reach of the Caribbean will get a fair amount of sun, as will Southern California and probably much of the desert states such as Arizona and Nevada.
Hawaii
Puzzled... Las Vegas and especially the Grand Ganyon are not good choices if you're expecting decent weather in February. The Grand Canyon's South Rim (where most visitors go) is 7,000 feet above sea level the North Rim is 8,000 and not even open except May to October. Always go prepared for cold weather ...

Las Vegas can be really hot in the summer... 110 degrees (F) in the daytime is not uncommon. But, as with most desert climates, it loses heat really quickly when the sun goes down. Even in summer, away from the paved heat sink that is most of Las Vegas, temperatures drop rapidly to less than 50 degrees...
I lived in San Diego for 12 years and we always went to the beach on Christmas day. Usually wearing shorts and a tee shirt. If that is warm enough for you, it is an intersting place to visit. A lot to see and do for both adults and children. Contrary to what people are saying, most of the southern states have reasonable warm weather during December. With the climate change, it is a crap shoot as to what you are going to get any place in the world you go.
Many places will be warm and/or sunny, but none hot even if you express the temperature in farenheit, Kelvin, etc.
