Baggage allowance

Hi. We are flying to the States on Sunday. I have been on the BA website to look for babbage allowance and it says free 23kg and up to 32kg with a charge of £30. Does you know if that is per kilo,or total? I know the really cheap flight in Europe are £15 per kilo over. Thanks for help.

Don`t quote me but I think that`s a flat rate. They used to calculate it as a percentage of the fare but it`s simplified now. £30`s not too bad for an overweight bag actually. If it`s just, say 1/2k over, they won`t bother

I agree that the use of the word 'at', on this page, leaves it unclear as to whether it's a flat fee or a 'per kilogram' rate):

if you fly Virgin they are much more generous with baggage allowance and most US airlines [ no, better to use Virgin] its two bags regardless of weight unless you take real liberties that is. We always try & go Virgin and put one suitcase inside the other on the way out as we do a lot of shopping, on the return journey with the two cases each we have never been asked to pay more.
is it only me that wont fly BA ?

You can pre-book excess baggage on the 'manage your booking' part of the BA website and the £30 fee allows you to increase your allowance from 23kg to 32kg - not sure if they charge the same if you just show up with an overweight bag though!
