Settle to Carlisle rail journey

I have always wanted to go on the Settle to Carlisle railway trip and have a chance of doing this in late spring this year.  I am interested in the scenery and having a great day out. Has anyone been on this route? and did you enjoy it? Also how long roughly would the round trip take? Any info would be gratefully received.

Hey Kazza, i vaguley remember doing this with my family some years ago and i love the scenery around there is is truly beautiful, if you like trains like my dad especially the steam version try the ffestiniog(not sure if that is spelt right) or the welsh highland railway, the scenery around there is fab and they have open air cabs on some of them which is lovely on a nice day, i would definitely recommend these if you get the chance.
