I think that as long as you have a variety of things to entertain them it will be fine. There are meal breaks etc which all break the journey up anyway and if there is no movie on, take a mini dvd player and they can watch that. A few books/comics etc and it'll go quite quickly - return flight will probably be overnight so that'll be fine.

We did Edinburgh to Newark and then a change of plane to Rhode Island when ours were 4 and 3 - similar total time but with a wee break in between. They were fine and the time difference didn't seem to bother them at all. They had a nap towards the end of the Newark flight as we had been up quite early and then we just kept them up to about their usual bed time when we arrived and that was them, back into normal routine. Coming back they slept and were fine - we didn't sleep and so were completely wiped out with jet lag for a few days.

donna....exactly.....but the price of the seat doesnt include annoying other passengers.
Your kids may be fine.....but I have been on many flights where the kids, pull the back of your headrests, kick the back of your seats and make the flight a misery.
However....I just turn around and say."Do you mind keeping you feet to yourselves"....with my meaningful stare.
To be fair.....msny kids DO behave......luck of the draw and as Naz says.....you should know.
