Woke up to sunshine and now it is absolutely pouring down!! Cannot believe there is any rain left in the sky - so depressing. On a positive note winter will look quite good compared to this appalling summer.

Oh and BTW, no rain here in Brighton & Hove today so far, just sunshine.

Good article thanks Lottie, I don't usually use pellets but they have been so bad this year I have replaced some plants twice and can't afford to provide snails with supper any more! If plants are in pots I use the copper tape method around the top of the pot, its brilliant and really deters snails, I think they get a mild shock. Also a good way is putting the pot in the centre of another container standing on top of an upturned plant pot. Fill the outer container with either gravel or water so the potted plant is protected by a "moat" I did this with my sunflowers last year and they all managed to survive.
Ladybirder, have you thought about having a couple of outside taps installed, roof terrace and garden maybe ?
As long as that awful hail as big as golf balls doesn't return which we had 2 weeks ago - it was terrifying here.
grandchildren were going to colchester zoo today i think it has been renamed the ark.
tony I wish we could do that but it would be very expensive as we don't have a communal water tank that it could be drawn from. As we are all on water meters then the person next to the roof terrace would have to have it plumbed into their property and one of the downstairs flats would have to agree to do the same. Or a separate tank would have to be built somewhere. It won't happen as it will add to our maintenance and outgoings and nobody else is bothered because I do all the donkey work plus bear the cost of the water. Plus all the plants on the roof terrace are mine or my daughter's so I should really take care of those. It's just that we usually don't get a high rainfall down here and it's jolly hard work.
perhaps we could exchange some of our rain with a drought hit country, and we could import some of their sunshine.
Well we actually saw some sunshine here (Leics) after lunch, it was great to sit on the garden seat, read the paper and feel the sun on your face .......... :) but.... it didn't last long the sky got extremely dark and it absolutely threw it down again ........ its stopped now but its still undecided what to do, think it wants to give us another soaking!!
Threw about ten snails out of the greenhouse. Seems like even they are seeking a bit of dryness as a change from this everlasting rain.
I think my leylandii have grown about a foot in the last month..............and my new tree is positively flourishing.
Righto, I get the picture know ladybirder, and crafty get that bush trimmed.
