Just thought I'd start this thread for any folk who are having to travel anywhere today in the teeth of the storm we're currently experiencing.

Just flashed up on Sky News that all Scotrail services are suspended until further notice.

Tonight, more likely tomorrow, mazie. He'll be on Eurotunnel which will be stacked out if the ferries are cancelled.
Looking out the back I can see dozens of flashing Orange lights about half mile away....must be work teams seeing to the power ??
Hope all goes well boxy. The wind may die down a little as the day progresses. x
I've got to take the cat to the vet mid-morning tomorrow - I hope the wind's died down by then!
I'm as far east as you can get in Norfolk .They're already evacuating people up in North Norfolk. My son phoned from that area earlier and said everything was closing down and barriers were up . Down here the police are warning people and they've got sandbags at the ready and those who live near the river and other low lying areas have been told to leave their homes and go to emergency centres from early afternoon .
We could get a tidal surge at 22.30 tonight .I'm glad I live high up in the town Tides could be six feet higher than normal and it could be as bad as the floods of '53 .Pretty scary .
