storm chasing

has anyone else ever chased storms feel the clap of thunder when the windows down absolutly lashing down flashing all around you, wife thinks i am mad but i've told her we are in the safest place?

When I lived in Zambia I had the use of a small plane and together with 3 friends found great pleasure in flying to the tops of thunderstorms as they drifted across Africa to watch the lightning forking to the ground and listen to the noise.

i am very envious of you that must be a rush. iexperienced one hell of a storm in canada in 91 hailstones 4inch across and rolling thunder plus lightning streching across 20 miles of sky and within an hour it was gone and we were looking up at arora borialis that was spectacular, but i could'nt chase it as i was driving a tank (c/o goes ape if you chase storms in 65 tonne veh) will love to chase in a plane maybe one day?

I was in tanks for three and a half years - Cromwells. Comets and a spell with Valentines with the turret removed and a 17 pounder firing to the rear on a fixed traverse in an anti-tank role !! The Nips weren't the only ones that were kamikaze !!

the only thing i got shot at by was the french-canadian infantry,the vandoo's we were closed down on a live fire ex in batus in alberta and we heard the familier dink dink dink of small arm fire then dunk dunk off half inch shells hitting our rear bins. the barstewards were aiming for our antenne pots. we had them back though as they drove past us we opened up with 7.62 and shot every thing that was attached to their apc chieftan 1 frog grunts 0 . their airforce is like the yanks they tried missiling our safety veh with a F16 christ that bloke could run,he was faster than missile
