I feel worse today than I did yesterday and on top of everything else I have a heavy cold now, I thought Erythromycin would shift anyhing but I feel awful. Maybe I should take more paracetamol.

You must have a nasty bout of flu dot. You've been on the antibiots for about 3 days have'nt you? I think all you can do is take the paracetomol with warm honey and lemon and for your ear some warm olive oil or almond with cotton wool to keep the draught out. Hope it soon passes for you.
Hi dot - sorry you are having such a miserbale weekend - sometimes antibiotics are next to useless, but it might just not have started working yet. Try some paracetemol mixed with honey and lemon in hot water, or the old remedy of whiskey and hot milk. Plenty of rest and lots of vitamin c. Best wishes for a speedy recovery - Amara xx

I don't think I have ever had flu, it's one of those things people say they have had but it is usually a heavy cold. Is there alot of flu about just now i wondered if it was a winter thing.
A fever is the body's way of cooling it down- a thermostat. And sometimes we get ill because we "need" to. Also sometimes antibiotics don't work. They only help with bacterial infections, not viruses. Sometimes all you can do is stay in bed, drink loads, and let your body fight it off in it's natural way.
Hi Dot - im sorry you're feeling so poorly. My son aged 6 has had so many earaches, fevers, bad colds this year that the current course of antibiotics just arent working. For some reason he just cannot shift this thing for more than a week and it is back again.Hope you feel better soon.x
dot, I think you need to give Dr Vodka a visit

don't think it would help in any way elvis, I have a bad head already and my temperature is up too so it would probably do me more harm lol Pity
Try an ibuprofen or an aspirin. They should be better at keeping your temperature down than paracetamol. You can take them at the same time as the paracetamol if you think you need both.

there is a prescription painkiller called paracodol, great for lowering high temps, commonly known as "fluffy ducks" when taken with vodka :)

Dot. antibiotics will only work on bacteria.

Flu's and cold's are caused by viruses. The only cure for a virus is time, lots of fluids, vitamin C and Paracetamol.

If you are are taking an antibiotic for the right reason and it isn't working, the likelyhood is that it isn't the correct antibiotic. You may need to see your Doctor again as each bacteria is only sensitive (treatable) to certain antibiotics.

I'm sure this does not apply to you. but the over use of antibiotics is rapidly increasing leading to treatment resistance.

Nature is a wonderful thing if only we would give our body time to heal. We are always in such a rush that we want an almost instant cure for all our ills nowadays.

I hope you feel better soon x
