Has anybody enjoyed the Wine and Dine from marks and spencer - it looks great value very much but for me it looks too much for one person.

Could any of it be frozen.

The M&S ones are brilliant and can be split over more than one meal. Waitrose similar are rubbish e.g. whoever thinks that a pizza as a main is like eating out? Not me!

that depends what is on the pizza. My favourite is shellfish, smoked salmon and asparagus.

I think the M&S deals are great for a cosy night in as a couple.

The Co Op ones on B00's link are ideal for a small family to give the cook a night off from prep.

I have to say my limited experience of Waitrose ready meals has been shockingly bad.

I am intrigue by the M&S offering and may give it a go.

I`ve never been very impressed with Waitrose. Waitrose are very good at telling people they are good and people are very good at believing it. It`s all down to good PR

Eccles...well worth it. I got the vegetable option as a side and made my own spuds.

I wish they'd give an option of starter or pudding though.

Reminds me of a friend of ours. He used to own a upmarket clothes shop and was selling plain white t-shirts for £5. They weren't selling very well so he put the price up to £20 and they all sold out!!

I know Ummmm. A friend of mine is such a John Lewis/Waitrose snob. She won`t hear a word against them. I must admit though, M&S are good. Their food is superior to the the other supermarkets but they don`t blow their own trumpet. You don`t need to when the product is top quality.

and if you have a Marks and Sparky card, you can get 10% off your food purchases for the first 10 days...can I have my commission for that plug credited to my account, Mr. Marks? Ta (and forget the 5% for the Ed).

me view, commercially, SJ, is that Marks are positioning themselves increasingly up against JL and not the Sainsburys and Tescos of this world, on the belief that there is room for two of them, M&S's advantage being their omnipresence across mainland UK and outta-town-sites. Nearest W to here is Okehampton, followed by Saltash and for a JL, Exeter (for the moment).

I am not fond of Waitrose ready meals but their butchers and fresh fish counters are good. We have no good fishmonger or butcher locally.

We don't have any fishmongers whatsoever. Such a pity as we used to have a massive fish market... which is now a bus station!

I once asked at the meat counter in Waitrose if they had any chuck steak and she'd never heard of it.

I went into Waitrose and asked if they had any sardines in stock. I knew (coming from the SW) that there should be some soon but I was a couple of weeks early. The person behind the fish counter told me that they had some frozen ones that I could buy. I asked how long ago they were frozen and he said they were a year old.Needless to say, I declined. I also remember going in there and asking where the gammons were and I was directed to ham joints.

we have Chapman's in Perranporth and L.George in Newlyn East for a comparison, both able to tell you from which herd or flock the beatie came from - oh, and for game too, given that we are into that season.
