Dom, I also have a lot of 'experience' with Yardies, and find that most of the Jamaican crack dealers here are not proper Yardies, but illegal immigrants selling smack and pimping. It seems any Jamaican fresh off the plane wants to call himself a yardie and expect people to be scared of them.
gawde I'm off to jamaica in February (against my better judgement but the deposit is paid now) and even though I know that we need to be alert and not go off the complex alone, I was hoping it would have been a relaxing trip, i wonder if bernie could do one of those Bruce Willis type reccies first and clear them all off before i get there? please? lol
dot.... i recently went to jamaica, it was fantastic and although we stayed within our complex most of the time, when we did venture out,i found the locals very friendly and polite!!
To put the record staright, i have also been to jamaica and found the people to be fantastic and kind hearted with a ready smile. The poverty in places and lack of opportunities is what drives some of the young to become carriers and criminals. It will be no different to other countries i presume, but the culture of drug dealing yardies in the UK is a particularly pernicious one and a hoody outfit does seem to be a type of uniform among them.
