Winmail.dat Files
A friend keeps sending me emails with attachments, and they come as winmail.dat files, which i cannot open on my iphone or ipad. i understand that sending emails from outlook can cause this problem, but he is adamant he isnt using outlook and logs into the sky/yahoo platform to send emails. its now becoming a problem for me, and we simply cant work out how and why is happening, because sometimes the attachments come as a simple word document which i can open, and sometimes in this other format.

it must their badly configured outlook, or server i think. i assumed that trying to open something that comes through, by, or via microsoft might cause problems on an apple device. i have downloaded this app, and sometimes it will allow the attachment to be opened with no problem. sometimes though it won't. oddly enough, my grandaughter who, of course, has the most up to date apple devices (dont they all), can open these files. i am wondering if apple have had to bow down to all those people who complain of their software being totally incompatible with what comes from the majority of people. i have tried sending attachments through a google e-mail platform and this causes no problems at all. it seems the yahoo platform thats the problem, for us at least.
