Of course they have Mr aog. There will be other European countries who will soon decide they have had enough of unrealisic quotas foisted on them.Rivers of blood indeed.
I'm not surprised at the German reaction. When the East-West border was removed, and the 2 Germanys became one, there was widespread irritation among the West Germans at what they saw as them being forced, through taxes, to support what they saw as 'spongers'. It looks as if that irritation is now aimed at migrants.
Correct, retrocop.
These migrants will continue to arrive as long as there is war in the region they come from.
But there isn't war in many of the places they come from Mikey (and I'll restrict my remarks to where they originated from without getting bogged down in the complexities of asylum being only properly valid if claimed upon arrival in the first safe country).

It is true that large numbers originate from Syria. But large numbers don't. Many come from Asian and sub-Saharan African nations where there is relative stability. These places may not be as nice as Europe (and in particular Western Europe) but they are not ravaged with war as some would have us believe. Many of these migrants simply don't like it where they are and would prefer to live in more agreeable and prosperous surroundings.

Europe needs to get a grip. It needs to develop a strategy which prevents such arrivals landing on the continent (and subsequently being given free rein to roam wherever they like) instead of trying to think what to do with them after they have arrived. They will not stop coming so long as they are allowed to settle and it is foolish to even begin to think otherwise. European governments (heavily influenced by the EU) are betraying their citizens by allowing such an invasion. Unfortunate as it is, the whole of the population of Africa, the Middle East and many other places besides cannot settle in Europe. That’s the way it is.

There will be widespread unrest in Europe if this is allowed to continue unchecked. One unexpected and beneficial side effect of it all may be that it hastens the destruction of the ghastly European Union as individual nations come to realise what most sane people have known for years: that when the excrement hits the air conditioning the idea of a jolly club, where mutual respect, admiration and support for one another prevails, goes rapidly out of the window and it is every man for himself. What is happening in Germany and elsewhere is what is bound to occur when people see their nation being invaded and their governments, far from standing idly by, actively encourage the invaders.
Mikey
Then they should be turned back and directed to the nearest middle east countries that are not at war and closer to home. Saudi and the Emirates for an example. Europeans do not want them or need them and quite frankly their unchecked admittance could lead them to creating another war zone that they are allegedly fleeing.
All very well you wringing your hands and using the royal "We should be giving them all the aid and succour they want". What will your contribution be when there is bloodshed all over major cities in the UK when people do say "Enough is enough"?
The current ghettoes we have in the UK are not acceptable as it stands where suspicion abounds about the non willingness to integrate with the citizens of this Island. Creating "New Town Ghettoes" will not help the racial tension here that already exists.

war fiddle faddle - most I think are non-syrian and economic

After the Americans were unceremoniously bundled out of Vietnam - the vietnames boat people sort of popped up everywhere and none of them were war refugees - they just didnt like the liberation that Ho Ho Ho Chi Minh had brought them ( and I am not surprised )
There does seem to be (possibly, just possibly) some misinformation going on here - perhaps by the 'people-smugglers'. I listened to an interview on R4 this mid-day-ish and the would-be immigrants were all happily convinced that they were wanted in Europe. "Germany and Sweden want more people," is an exact quote. A bit of counter-propaganda is perhaps needed?
Apologies for the diversion, AOG.
Haven't replied to your recent post addressed to me on another thread (remind me - which?), NJ. Will do so. You raised some good points. Think we disagree on one point - what I call the Malthusian Fallacy - and also the implication of the demographic changes we're seeing.
Wait until the people of Yemen decide to move. There are 24 million living poor lives. They must be thinking, you know what, I could do that.

Ma cheri
They only need access to Answerbank to be under that misguided delusion.
Mikey intends to get everyone to work and build loads of new cities to house his much needed guests. The immigrants need no spin from people smugglers!
Mikey needs more potential Labour supporters from Calais to win over in order to get Jezza in No 10 at a great cost to the rest of this country as usual.
Altruism? Carp :-(

retrocop, Carp indeed mon cher. But that is their delusion, so how is the message to be relayed and by whom? No body seems to be speaking out loud and strong. This is a tragedy because it encourages the desperate and innocent to embark on the voyage. Give me a megaphone and some publicity and I'll do it!

That is the tragedy. The innocent are being fooled and led like lambs to the slaughter. Politicians are giving them false hopes just to grandstand themselves and ambitions to the world stage.
I have no doubts that Frau Merkel is looking at a future Nobel prize meanwhile the sinister ambitions in the background are already showing what their views are on her largesse. The Swedes are not at all happy either and they are pussycats when it comes to equalling neo -nazis in Germany. It will become very ugly and I fear these immigrants will wish they never set foot in Europe.
History repeats itself and I am not thinking of German Nazis in the 2nd W.W.
I am remembering the Turkish Guest workers in the 60s-70s and the treatment they received.

And if they do they are called Knuckle Dragging Far-Right thugs, Neo-Nazis, Fascists and Racists, groups such as the EDL and Britain First.

Loud? yes, can be described as the equivalent to football mobs? maybe, yet have never committed very much damage either to persons or property.

Why even those who are extremely concerned at what this country is becoming seem to shy away from such groups, but if these groups are the only ones who are preprepared to speak out, one has to ask what are we afraid of?

The British general public will not take to the streets in protest, it is not just our way, so who is going to speak out on our behalf?
