I do a scan with Malwarebytes every few days. Just recently there have been a number of PUPs found every time - always around the same number of them. I quarantine/delete them and restart the computer but next time I scan there are more. Why has this just started happening? W7, chrome browser. Thanks.

Maybe they're getting more loose with their definition of a PUP ? Or maybe the applications you have need the PUP and reloads it ? I think you need to look into what you have, where, and why.
...or perhaps you keep revisiting sites or clicking links that install them.
But keep in mind that a PUP is a "Potentially Unwanted Program". Not a "Definitely Unwanted Program"
