Booked to go on the California and the. Golden west tour this September. Has anyone done this tour recently. What do you do for breakfast, and evening meals and schedule appears quite tights.

I`ve looked at them before and considered them a little overpriced.

The main reason that you may have long days is the huge distances involved in touring the far West. I have come across people that stay in Flagstaff, to see the Grand Canyon ! That's the equivalence of staying in Bristol, to see Central London. They take hours to get there, stay for about an hour, and then drive back ! Las Vegas is over 250 miles from LA and even farther from San Francisco.
These American coach holidays are rather like trying to see Lands End, John O'Groats, Edinburg, London, Stratford on Avon and Stonehenge, all in the same week. I think that they try to take in too much.
I have travelled extensively in the Far West, but always driving myself. I am not sure I would want to be cooped up in a coach with strangers for so long.
And driving in in California and Arizona can be great fun.
Some friends of mine were on a Golden Triangle type trip a few years ago, and someone died on the coach. But they were so far away from anywhere, that the man's wife had to sit beside her dead husband for about 8 hours.
But the scenery will be marvelous, so it won't seem so bad perhaps.

lol, you sure know how to encourage someone who's already booked, mikey!
Yes, the distances are very long. I've driven them myself and if I did it again I think I'd like to have someone else at the wheel for a change.
I assume meals will be available at the hotels but you might like to ask about their lunch arrangements. America is full of eateries, but it would be useful to know just which ones you'll be visiting.

jno...LOL !
When I was driving around myself, I used the Truck Stops, out on the Highway, as I suspect you did as well jno ( judging from previous posts ! ) The food was always good and inexpensive. They were open 24 hours a day, and if you wanted the genuine American road experience, than sitting at the counter, or in a booth, people-watching, while eating the best breakfasts that you can buy, Diner and Truck Stops were the best place to be.
I suspect that Titan Tours and other coach holiday firms don't use these places. But you will never starve in the USA, that's for sure.

I haven't done is tour but I have done a very similar one with long days.
Firstly the coaches are luxury comfie and the roads are clear. The views are so breathtaking that you don't notice the miles.
It is customary to pay for your breakfast in the hotel or motel. Its never very much but it is payable in cash each morning. You can expect tea and cofffee making facilities in the rooms, so if you're not so fussed about a breakfast then buy something as a snack at one of the many stops for tomorrows Breakfast. Don't expect cooked English, instead an American breakfast of eggs, toast, cheese, cereal, etc
Evening meals are readily available either in the hotel or close by. Many hotels and motels in the more remote areas are found close to a trading post which has a shop, various restaurants, gift shops and visitor centres. All payable locally so you need to budget for these daily meals in tour spending money.
Take no notice of the scare stories, ours was a trip of a lifetime and I'd do it again tomorrow at the drop of a hat.

A cousin of mine did a similar tour and it was fine but the guides took a dim view if you went off on your own rather than dining in the hotels which were expensive. We always plan our own trips and can eat cheaply, Whole Foods hot food bar is amazing, but I think you're a bit stuck on a tour and there won't be much time to do your own thing.
We were once in a USA Specialist travel agent in Bolton, if you're local you'll know which patron saint they named for, and one advisor told someone to stay in Phoenix, to visit Monument Valley, 320 miles away!
