Big difference between the refugees/immigrants that Blair opened the floodgates for and the ones Cameron is admitting to the UK.
The Prime Minister is sending UK representatives to bring genuine refugees who have stayed put in camps in Jordan and Turkey. The idea that those rushing into Europe en masse are in such great numbers they cannot have their bona fides verified are not going to be welcomed and are a security risk.
At least this HMG is demonstrating some common sense selectivity unlike Merkel et al. We cherry pick the genuine (hopefully).
Shall we go back to the little infant drowned on a Turkish beach. Remember our left wing hand wringers on AB writing that the non action of this country was shameful and (the royal) WE must do something to help these poor people.

New Judge as per usual, excellent reply and reasoning and speaking IMO for the person in the street who knows exactly why things are happening but nothing being done about it...like years too late! Also New Bad's post, all common sense and tells it like it is, what a shame those who control our country can't see sense too. They banned the IRA from our shores because they said they were terrorists so why aren't they banning Muslims from entering this country? As for saying as some do, they aren't all bad...prove it! None of us know for sure IMO so why not use prevention rather than cure?

Giving people carte Blanche to build their mosques and practice what is basically a religion of hate in our country should never have been allowed. However, that's just my opinion but at least I've kept it all along and we are seeing what can happen by letting them all come in and not just Muslims. Any migrants, any religions afaic .....why should we give up our way of life for those who won't change theirs to fit in another country and a different way of life?

Dunnital...your logic is flawed. The IRA were terrorists but not all Catholics were. We didn't ban all Catholics "from our shores".

In the same way, just following the Muslim faith doesn't make you a terrorist either.
