Cat Proof Flooring

we are thinking about getting new flooring ,but have two cats who tend to scratch at our present ones.. is it not a good idea to get a berber carpet because of their claws and is wooden flooring a better option?

Don't even think about Berber carpets with cats. Best option is to get rid of the cats then you can have any carpet you like.

I had hoped that when I asked a question I would get a sensible answer. at least I got one from Buenchico, but diddlydo, well!!!!
I must be very lucky as my cat doesn't claw carpets but be careful about wooden floors - the bedroom has stained and varnished floorboards and his back claws would scratch the varnish off when he was jumping up onto windowsills or the bed.
