cleaning office floor tiles
9 Answers
Hello I have these stained old floor tiles in situ there is a couple of old milk spills and a grease stain from a dominos garlic and herb dipping sauce and one area where one desk has been and a chair without wheels as a result the carpet tiles there are very worn and flattened.
I tried to clean the tiles the other week with carpet shampoo and vanish powershot, but if anything the milk and grease stains are worse (that being.. the dark roundish stain are now alot bigger because the stain has spread when cleaning or the general dark washed area which i assumed would dry and go light in colour never did.
I have tried to take up the bad tiles and swap with other tiles from another room but the problem there is that the wear is differnt on each tile within each room so you find you are trying to match 'wear intensity' on juxtapose tiles than anything else. I have changed all the stained tiles but you can still see all the 'odd new ones' standing out.
I have thought about taking the tiles home and washing the as well as possible without damaging them and then drying them outside in the sun??
How should I wash them do you think?
Thanks in advance

If they're Marley vinyl tiles or similar, the colours run all the way through the thickness of the tile, so scouring them doesn't present a problem. For severely stained tiles I use Cif, and a worn green scourer pad. (A new one will score the tiles, but a worn one won't). Keep at it till the stain's gone, rinse off and wipe dry.
Tile cleaning can be a chore and the techniques you would use can vary depending on the type of tile you have. Cleaning the tiles with hydrogen peroxide and water is helpful way with cleaning process.
