I think it's broadcasts cost thousands of pounds a minute. Why then do they waste licence payers money and patronising them at the same time in this way?
We know that IS is what they choose to call themselves. Only people that by default think we are morons would continue to waste money by insisting the words 'so-called' be used every time they mention IS.

I'm perfectly happy for the Beeb to keep saying 'so called'. It's propaganda. If they start just saying Islamic State then it would be like accepting they ARE a state. What don't you get about that?

What gets me about this whole 'what should we call them' debate is the suspicion that if I was an ISIS bod I'd be lapping up the implied and uncalled for attention given my organisation, as reflected in the general fretting over a name.

There may be a debate on what to call these violent, stupid extremists, but Colm's post wasn't it.

Instead of sticking to his central point, he chose to muddy the waters with a daft and rambling attack on the BBC.

For my part, I am getting a tad *** off with the constant name changes that are being foisted on us. IS, ISIS, ISIL and now Daesh.

For me it wouldn't get on my nerves so much if they could change it a bit 'self-styled' , 'self-named' and other alternatives and not be so grating.
I agree with the comment that observed we don't seem to agree even about what to call them, let alone how to fight them.
