Fiesta automatic
I recently posted to ask about my Fiesta (automatic, 1994) as it was cutting out when putting into drive or when slowing down. A mechanic looked & found nothing obvious so did diagnostic test which showed no fault codes. He said when he drove it he noticed the gear changes were 'erratic' and adjusted something (can't remember the correct word) on the gearbox. He said it was a common problem on automatics & just needed to be adjusted every service. Only cost 20 to fix, hasn't cut out since, gear changes are a lot smoother now, but a little sluggish when pulling away, is this due to the adjustment? And why would the 'erratic' gear changes make it cut out?

it seems you have found a good and trustworthy mechanic there
Thank you for replying. It may well be normal as I have only had the car for a year and the mechanic said that it would of happened gradually, not an overnight thing. Suppose it just feels a little different to drive, smoother when going, but sluggish, lacking in power when pulling away. But it is no longer cutting out and I do not have any of the 'waiting for the gear to change' as I did previously.
