Nissan Micra. 2004 petrol.
Intermittent starting problems. Normally ok starting first time. occasionally not starting.
Turn key. All dash lights on ok. Nothing happens at all. No engine turn over and no sound. No dimming of lights. Will bump start immediately.

I could go out to car now and would start on key first time. Could go ok for days or weeks then problems again. Intermittent fault. Could last few hours or days!
New battery and starter fitted. Still same. Any ideas anyone please.

The Micra has had problems with starting, both when the engine is cold and when it is warm. This problem is caused by a problem with the ignition switch overheating, which causes the starter motor to fail.
You will need to replace the ignition switch to resolve the issue.

Don’t take my advice as gospel I’m no mechanic it’s just my friend had this problem and that what solved it
