All major attractions seem to have them now, even Madame Tussauds.

Is it ethically right to give queue jumping privileges purely because some families 'can afford it' ?

I suppose it's just the same as fast track in airports, or restaurants in the House of Commons. They still have to queue to a certain extent. If the management can get money out of people for the privelege of getting there before everyone else, then good luck to them.
Why not.
Is not the world full of those that can pay more get the better priviledges as in cinemas, theatres, planes, cruise ships, and trains. It's everywhere
Disney Land had a good system. You could get a ticket for a prearranged time and it didn't cost anything (this was years ago) so you had the prearranged queue and the normal queue.
ummm Disney still do fastpasses and there is still no charge. You don’t jump the queue exactly but you book a time for your ride so you can go and do something else instead of queueing. I think its done to improve crowd safety by encouraging people to spread out and not cluster in queues, although you can still just turn up at the ride and queue.
It's a good system.
