why is it when i open a bottle the outside is a lot colder than it was fresh from the fridge unopened thanks

I guess the bottle was pressurized and the release of pressure caused the temperature to drop

Tilly- I think magpie is saying that as he opens the bottle/can the temperature of the glass/plastic/tin can falls noticeably.

Anyway, it's fizzy like pop and the effect of opening the bottle is like magpie's description

Opening the bottle increases the volume, which reduces the pressure, so the temperature drops. Or something like that. As scowie stated. Same principle the fridge was using before you removed the bottle.

Old Geezer is appealing to somehting known as the gas laws - see his contribution - it is the reverse of pumping up a bicycle tyre ( which gets hot )

or that pressure and temp are both able to do work ( forms of energy ) and are connected so some of the temp energy is used for the pressure drop ( release of energy ) and so it goes down. ( beginning of a subject called thermodynamics - science of conversion of heat into work )
