And once again, as I pointed out in a question on a similar topic yesterday, there seems to be a body of opinion in the UK that says because people here are better off than some elsewhere, they should necessarily make sacrifices (such as changing a job which they may have held for years).

Ms Moseley's comments are outrageous. Basically, what she is saying is that truckers should not complain about having their lorries (or even themselves) attacked because they have a nice home and a deccent job. Fair enough then; that justifies any sort of acquisitive crime (with violence) where the perpetrator has less than the victim. Just what world do these people inhabit?

If I was a HGV driver I think I would ensure my tyre Iron was in the cab just "for emergencies."
This feral mob of criminals would be dealt appropriate action if they tried it on in S.A.. Double OO Buck!!!! That jungle should be evacuated by force if necessary and burnt to the ground.

I'm sure Clare must have been attempting irony, as no one could be that unable to think things through. Unless her misplaced feeling of wanting to help one group has blinkered her to anything but one goal, regardless of what abuse the means of achieving that, inflicts. In which case she would be unsuited to her role.

Can I respectfully suggest that Care4Calais founder Clare Moseley give up her position & any other job she may be doing at the moment & offer her safe position to the first Calais Asylum seeker she claps eyes on.

Clare has been able to leave her home, business and family for the past few months to support her cause - however the remarks made about the truckers jobs are crass and ill thought out.

Not everyone has the same luxury to be flippant about their employment.

Apparently she has left her job, her husband and children to help in Calais. Good on her. Whilst she’s there perhaps she can ensure that the truckers whom she seems to consider about as worthless as her children are shielded from intimidation and violence. I notice that “Care4Calais” has distanced itself from her remarks. If they’ve any sense they will ensure she no longer has the opportunity to become involved in their affairs. (In fact if they really had any sense they would wind up their operations in France forthwith and concentrate their efforts on people in trouble in the UK. Perhaps they could be rebranded “Care4Carlisle”. But of course, By Mrs Moseley’s thinking, the people who have been flooded out over the past few weeks are quite comfortable really so perhaps they should open their homes to an illegal immigrant or two).
