What's the point of Cameron presenting these reforms only for thm to be voted against Not worth the paper they are written on. I hope nobody believes in them. The EU have renaded on so many promises, does anyone actually believe they will happen?

It is bad tactics to vote on vague 'promises' rather than properly ratified agreements.

Cameron wants an early referendum because that will favour the staying IN vote. The longer his "historic deal for the UK" has to unravel, the less likely the public will suppot it.

For the record, I am undecided how I will vote in the referedum, so do not assume I am pro EU.

There are many lies, and a lot disinformation about the EU posted on here. Because I challenge the lies and disinformation does not mean I support the EU it means I do not like the fog of lies.

I want to have the true facts for and against on which to base which way I will vote. If the Leave campaigners tell me lies, half truths and nonsense then they are not doing their cause any good.

I think the point is that we are being asked to 'buy a pig in a poke' - and a pretty skinny one at that, not the chubby porker we were promised.

One of the things you imbibe through childhood as a truism is not to buy one of these. Of course it has always been obvious as well that any promises would have to be ratified later. I am reminded of Sir Humphry saying soothingly 'They are only political promises, Minister.'.

They will not be only political promises.
Any changes have to be agreed by every member and voted on. If it gets passed, it will be EU policy and have to be obeyed.
Which is why it is important to get the thing fully approved BEFORE we proise it to the referendum voters.

My vote (if I decide to vote) will not be based on any consessions (ratified or not) that Cameron presents.
It will be based on the economic case. Problem is, the economic info from both sides is dodgy. It is like wading through treacle to find the facts. Hopefully they will do a better job at presenting evidence, when we are near to voting.

It is unclear at the moment if Cameron will call the referendum this year. He wants to. But if our EU partners do not give him much with which to bribe the voters, chancers are he will wait as long as possible. The bill for the referendum says it will be before 31st December 2017. So Cameron could just drag it out for another year.
