Printer To Computer
Morning chaps, me again, ;-(.
I'd like to scan a document from my printer to my computer with a view to e-mailing it on.
What page should I have open in front of me on my computer.
I've probably got more questions but that sounds a good place to start.
Perhaps, if it's easier, I could stick a USB?memory stick? in the printer & then in the computer.
Any answers just pretend you're talking to an idiot. ie. no technological terms unless unavoidable. Thank-you.

When you installd your printer some software for scanning would have been included. For example on a Canon its called Navigator so you open that and place your original on the glass and click scan on your computer. When its finished on the window will be a save option - to your desktop is best - then compose your email and click on the paperclip and direct it to the...

After you successfully Download and install the printer software from the HP website, as per the web link supplied in HC4361 post, you can also also access the Printer User guide online at:

Huzzah, success(of a sort) at last. I went all round the houses and came back(via Pinky's link) to what I believe was Hc's link again.
The first time I thought I had downloaded it in seconds and moved on. Second time I was more patient and it actually took 10/15 mins to download.
Now I can scan from the printer via my computer to my computer, if you see what I mean.
I tried sending something scanned straight to e-mail, that didn't work. (no e-mail connected, or something)
But I can scan things into my files. Just got to learn how to insert a file into my e-mails. I'm sure if I could 'open' one, it would have a 'send option' at the top of the page.
I'm a bit 'teched out', now, for 1 day. But I know I'm very close.
Thanks again, all.

^Oh, I followed directions to open files and they all seemed to take you to quite expensive 'Business Websites'? It's not worth it for me, now, paying for things like that. On my old lap-top, I (the bloke who set it all up for me) bought some kind of business software and installed it. Maybe that's why everything seemed simpler on the old one.
Yes, I have it now, as CaC explained earlier, write an e-mail, click on the paperclip and that takes you to the files, as opposed to trying to start with the file and turn it into an e-mail. We'll get there. ;) everything seems so complicated when you start 'later in life'. To think I used to laugh at old people when decimal money was introduced. I'm getting paid back in spades, now.
