A couple of hours ago we had to take Eddie, our great big Dobie Dog to our Vets to be PTS. Age caught up with him, his back end has been a bit wobbly for a while now, he was a big lad 31" at the shoulder and 54kgs, and his back legs just went from under him fortunately in the garden not out for a walk.
We've had him for just over 11 years since he was 8 weeks old and couldn't have asked for a nicer Dog, he will be sadly missed. First time we've been without a Dog for about 25 years, it's going to be strange.
When the time is right we will be doing the rounds of the local rescues there will be a suitable hound (or two) out there somewhere for us I'm sure.

Do you know, I really wish I hadn't played that!

(Thanks all the same Mrs C)
Poor old Eddie huge condolences ( hope he is now enjoying running around that lovely big field that is reserved for lovely pets in doggie heaven)
Sorry to hear about Eddie, Baldric.
You just have to keep reminding yourself that you did the best thing for him, as you have done all of his life.
It certainly does, Viv.

Sorry Baldric. I should've realised it was hard to watch.

Thank you guys.
Don't "know" you on here baldric as such, but know your loss. The quietness is "deafening" when you are a pet family and they are suddenly all gone. It's a physical loss as well as an emotional one almost .
Sorry, Baldric. Must be tough. I've just looked after a dog for two weeks and miss her already. Your having had a life full of dogs, and 11 years of Eddie must be heart-breaking.
