Ban smoking within the prison buildings and only allow it in excercise areas, I had to leave my warm work area and stand out in the cold when the law changed, so let them suffer too.

Yes but no but you can tell when peeps light up no?
Not when they are out of sight behind a locked steel door you cant.
Recessed smoke detectors might just solve that problem?
it would be ideal to extend the ban, but would anyone here want a job as a prison guard, in a prison full of convicts on nicotine withdrawal?

I imagine that could lead to a very unpleasant, tense and volatile environment, tension is something you want to decrease, not increase in a prison.
Exactly my point on page 1 Fluff.
Its not just screws that would take the brunt of it either. Theres plenty of 'civilian' staff that work in prisons as well (teachers, medics, etc)
