Am I right in thinking that egg whites shouldn't be whisked in plastic bowls when you want to whisk them to soft peaks?

I might have dreamt that...I often dream about food.

'' plastic bowls are not recommended because they have porous surfaces that can trap fat particles even after washing. That’s bad because any trace of fat - no matter how minimal - can destroys egg foams ''

For this very reason I like to use a fine porcelain Ming vase, gently whisking the whites with plaited hair from unicorn tails...

I always whip egg whites in plastic bowls and have never encountered a problem.
Plastic scratches harbour bacteria.

Lol Snags....nice to see you :-)

That makes sense, Patsy. I only have to whisk 3 egg whites, do you think I'll get away with a cereal bowl?
Yes or Pyrex dish.
Egg whites can be whisked in plastic bowls they just have to be clean - I always whisk in plastic and have never ever had an issue.

I'll let you know shortly :-)
snags is lying about the ming vase, i have it on good authority he's using china's chamber pot
I've never whisked an egg
I think 3 whisked will over flow a cereal bowl if you're aiming for meringue type consistency.

The cereal bowl worked, to the rim though.
