take hin to the vet

PS doing it yourself might be illegal. If you don't want to go to the vet at least phone them for advice
Definitely the vet. In an absolute emergency my husband once tried to put a dying injured water rat out of its misery by hitting it hard with a spade. it worked but he was so distressed by what he'd had to do that he couldn't stop vomiting afterwards. Do the decent thing and let the vet do it humanel.
Definately the vet. We had to take ours to the vet to be put to sleep. It's never pleasant, but at least we know he didn't suffer. I could never have done it myself.
We had exactly this situation with my sons hampster recently and we don't have simple access to what you would call a vet without major hassle (no I am not joking, not the UK), so we made a small compartment from a cut down drinks bottle and put soft stuff for a bed and then filled it with carbon dioxide from a soda stream type gas bottle, everybody said goodbye and then my son placed him inside, after a few seconds he just went to sleep and didn't wake up again.
He got a nice space under our mango tree, with flowers around it.
take him to the vets! have himput to sleep, its only usually about 5 pounds. i wouldnt do anything else but that.
