What would be the best mobile phone available at the moment for an elderly relative? It needs to be pretty straightforward, clear to read, and nothing matters apart from being able to make and receive calls, and send and receive text messages. She has been used to a very old Nokia, which has just died, so perhaps sticking with a Nokia may be a good idea? She has a pay as you go simcard.

Have a look on eBay and see if you can find something similar. Us 'oldies' prefer to stick with the older models (mine's a Nokia, too) because we don't can't cope with the new 'all singing, all dancing' phones & we don't want to take photos, read e-mails, watch films, etc. on our cell phones. You could visit a Nokia shop and see what the staff say.

Nokia 1112 fits the bill. Try to buy one from the same company as her existing sim card, then she`ll keep her number, messages, contacts etc without paying �5 - �10 to get it unlocked. The 1112 is available fom �12 - �15,
