I'd be very wary of Dyson's advertising and claims after a nasty experience with their Ball Cleaner.

Yes I have one. The top floor of our house is an en suite guest flat and can get quite hot in the Summer we bought it last year during a heat wave (south Germany) and it was very effective.

We have one of the hot and cool fans. Whilst it's not silent, it's a heck of a lot quieter than both a traditional fan or fan heater. Worth the money in my opinion.

Silent in this context is wrong. Very low noise is right.
Compared to other fans they are 'silent'. But over time, you will hear it as you get tuned-in to it.
Basically, commercially 'Silent' - but maybe not in use, depends on other sounds present.

£349 seems like an awful lot of money for a fan, silent or not.

Mikey, well it does have its own remote control, so you can operate it without getting out of bed! and which fits neatly and magnetically on top of it when not in use.
It doesn't just blow the existing warm air around so you simply feel cooler, it actually cools the air.

Khandro, The illustration of this amazing device fails to show the trunking necessary to carry away the warm air produce by the heat pump. If it hasn't got trunking then it must by the law of thermodynamics actually warm the air up. Additionally a heat pump that would fit in the elegant housing depicted would have an insignificant effect on the temperature….of anything much.

So far I haven't been able to find any claim by dyson that their hot and cool fan actually lowers the temperature of the air that it circulates. Im sure that if it did dyson would be shouting the fact from the rooftops. What it seems do to is 'cool' people by blowing air around them in the same way as any other fan..that costs a lot less.

The hospital near me have these in their wards. I wondered what they were when I first saw them as they really are silent. I'd happily have them at home
