Our fridge isn't keeping its cool these days - but starngely the freezer is fine. We've got the temp in the fridge down as low as poss, but it's not really cold enough for keep food fresh. Any ideas of things we could check out before we get a professional in to charge us a mint? It's a Smeg FAB with big freezer on bottom (about 6 years old) if that makes any difference...

Thanks

it could be that the gas in the fridge bit needs topping up....ask a refrigemental man thats what we had to do
Can't help you on the technical side unless it was similar to a problem we had where, because of the weight of heavy bottles & jars in the door, the door had actually dropped and wasn't triggering the "off" switch on the internal light. This was staying on when the door was closed and thus increasing the internal temperature of the fridge.
As a temporary measure, to keep the internal temperature down you could try regularly transferring frozen ice packs (the type you put into cool bags) into the fridge and swapping them over once they thaw through.
