Thanks Peter Pedant and Tora Tora Tora, further info here:- basically all the lessees of the block have been paying building insurance to the freeholder, then the fire escape at the rear of the property that serves the flats was condemned and unusable. As the freeholder and managing agent did nothing to fix the fire escape, the lessees asked questions about building insurance.When asked if the building was properly insured even though the fire escape was unusable, the managing agent who works for the freeholders tried to bluff his way out of answering directly and said the situation was 'ongoing'. When directly challenged by the the lessees the managing agent said 'yes the building is insured, keep up the building insurance payments' and he produced a certificate from the building insurers. On inspection of this document and after some enquiries, the trustee of the building insurance company proved to be the freeholder of the building....
