Can you transfer mp3s from a PC with windows 98 to an ipod mp3 player (2nd or 3rd gen) ? On the specifications on all the sites I have been to say that you need windows 2000, me or xp. Is that just a recommendation or does it actually work with 98 too ?

If the sites say that you'll need 200/ME/XP, then the chances are that the software is written using specific coding for those versions of Windows, Yai, so they are unlikely to work using other versions.
