Today at work I have been subjected to the joys of radio station 'Planet Rock'. Not my kind of thing at all. BUT in the middle of their playlist was an absolute beauty.
An American heavy metal band called 'Disturbed has released this version of a beautiful and classic hit song from Simon & Garfunkle...'The Sound of Silence'
This is absolutely wonderful...hairs on the back of the neck job.
Slow to start with but builds to a chescendo......Enjoy...
I'll buck the trend a little bit. It's a pretty decent cover but I don't think you can beat the master. Paul Simon's use of words, harmonies and arrangements takes a lot of beating.
I think the version is fantastic and I only heard it today on, Ken Bruce. Apparently Paul Simon sent them an email/text congratulating them on such a good, cover.
I think it's been mentioned before on here because I looked them up a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it!. I heard it this afternoon on radio two. Certainly sends shivers up your spine....
Well, never judge a book by its cover :) When I saw the picture of the singer I bypassed this copy the other day, but decided to give it a try just now and was pleasantly surprised. I liked it , don't think it can beat the original but a good copy.
